Intimacy Is Our Purest Continuum

He Said ~ Admittedly, very late to the game on this one, however, I recently discovered “Love on the Spectrum.

The U.S. version of the show began on Netflix, May 18, 2022. It is a re-imagining of the original Australian series, focusing on people with autism and their experiences with dating and relationships.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), formerly known as “autism,” is the official diagnosis and umbrella term for developmental disorders previously diagnosed separately as asperger’s syndrome, childhood disintegrative disorder, rett syndrome, pervasive development disorder, and others. The term “spectrum” in ASD refers to the varying symptoms and severity.

About 38% of people on the spectrum have an intellectual disability. It is important to remember that IQ is not inherently associated with autism. Getting to know a person is often the best way to understand their diagnosis and experience.

While ASD is complex with varying degrees of symptoms, some common ones include: poor eye contact, lack of facial expression, delayed or no speech, repetition of words, phrases or body movements, lack of emotions and awareness of the feelings of others and difficulty recognizing nonverbal cues.

Diagnosing ASD can be difficult because there is no specific test for the disorder. Typically, physicians conduct a comprehensive evaluation. The process may include: a review of developmental history, observation of behavior, tests of cognitive and language abilities, interviews with parents and teachers, or others who can answer questions about the person’s emotional and behavioral development.

The diagnostic process aims to gather a complete picture of the person’s strengths and challenges to determine whether they meet the criteria for ASD.

There is no cure for ASD, but early intervention and individualized treatment plans can improve outcomes and quality of life. Treatment plans are created to fit each person’s needs and may include a combination of the following approaches: behavioral therapies, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, medication, educational interventions, including an individualized education program (IEP), parent education, and support.

Treatment plans should be flexible and regularly reassessed to ensure they meet the evolving needs of the person diagnosed with ASD.

Love on the Spectrum” follows multiple main characters on their journeys to identify, familiarize, and develop amore. What makes this particular reality-show offering unique is its beating heart.

Watching these determined romantics navigate the customary pitfalls of dating is refreshing and bold. Gratefully, gratitude and affection have undergone a restoration, thanks to our friends – James, Abbey, Connor, Tanner, David and many more.

With its third season recently released, and a fourth in the works for 2026, it appears this wild ride is not decelerating anytime soon, and for that we should all be thankful!

In a new world consumed by continuous conflict, humanitarian crisis, and enigmatic guardianship, we could all use a sensory reboot. If you have not done so yet, please consider this television program your chance at a renaissance of the soul.

She Said ~

Lately, it feels as though the world is changing in the blink of an eye. Deciphering what is relevant and irrelevant is cause for exhaustion. From moment to moment, the heart aches and also breaks.

The struggle is earnest, real and true. Neglect and despair is slowly consuming the populace.

What will become of us?

Some stand fatigued, tired of pulling themselves up by bootstraps. They lay in wait for better days or the end of days, they’re both the same.

For others, they remain unaffected, food still fills their bellies and coins still line their pockets.

They are not concerned with what happens over there, on the fringes, on the outskirts – to the other.

Irrelevant News:

Outside, the rain has been falling ceaselessly. It’s been washing away resistance. The sun has been on strike. Temperatures rising and falling in hysterics.

The air is stale and stagnant.

Nights unfold into morning headlines,

breaking news of the hour, every hour,

on the hour.

Knowledge is power!

Knowledge is power!

Knowledge is power!

Speaking of which, BOOKS!

Like many others,I am feeling the need to contribute to the world in new and meaningful ways. Internal dialogue has led to moments of conflict, how can I do it all? I suppose that I am not the only one feeling disconnected and fragmented these days.

I wait for better ones.

Did You Know? In the U.S., roughly 1 in 31 children are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Globally, the estimated prevalence is around 1 in 100 children. This means that while autism is a relatively common condition in the US, it is much less prevalent worldwide.
